Beauty Knowledge: The Hair Stories

Hello babes!

There are mornings you can’t just make your hair right, and you end up feeling like your day is over, of course, what could be worst than a bad-hair day?

However, oh my friends, it is possible to make everyday your perfect-hair day (or at least a good hair day). Did you know that hair has such an important role on your look? Sometimes, I do not need much of makeup and fancy clothing, just a skater dress or jeans and polo, but if my hair looks good, then I LOOK GOOD!

#1. THE DIRTY HAIR STORY

So if you haven’t washed your hair, go for a different style, e.g. braiding! Trust me, braiding, donut/sock bun, ponytail, up-half, etc. are easier to do when your hair is not that clean. This is due to the fact that when your hair is greasy, it’s more likely to stick together when styling. It won’t point outwards. Some people after washing their hair have to use gels to make the hair lie down, which you do not need those chemicals now!

I usually do my hair like this:

How about a lovely bun?

and a sleek ponytail?

#2. THE SHAMPOO STORY

And if you still insist on having your hair down. It’s time for dry shampoo! Every girl should have this product, seriously. It will be your lifesaver, especially those with oily hair type. I know girls whose hair cannot stay amazing when it comes to the afternoon. If you have the same problem, you may want to add a bottle of dry shampoo into your bag. The most effective product I’ve been using so far is NO DROUGHT dry shampoo from LUSH. It’s quick, easy to use and leave your hair a grapefruit scent (which is lovely!)

Speaking about shampoo, another fact for hair is that, too much shampoo/washing will actually make your hair dull, less volume and dry. Three times per week is enough. The correct way is to use a bit of shampoo, gently massage it into you hair and scalp. If you want it to lather more, add water! Not product. The shampoo should not stay on your head for too long. It will do more harms than goods, no matter what brands and no matter what price. Wash it off when its lather already covers all your hair.

#3. THE CONDITIONER STORY

Right! Conditioner! A MUST. Invest in a damn good conditioner. You will get what you pay. Your hair needs moisture to shine and be fabulous. A good conditioner will help you to achieve it. Did you know why some hair gets greasy so quickly? It’s because the hair is lack of moisture, so it naturally has to create oil to balance up. So, you don’t want to starve your hair from conditioner. Remeber to squeeze out all excess water before putting it on, otherwise it will all go down with the water! Unlike shampoo, you can leave your conditioner a bit longer for the hair to absorb.

I recommend having a rich conditioner beside your normal conditioner to deeply moisturize your hair once per week. The trick for rich conditioner is that you only spread it from the middle towards the end. Avoid your roots! Too much moisture at your roots may cause hair-fall when you rinse.

If you are having trouble with hair fall, which I do sometimes, especially after long-haul flights or season change, then replace your normal conditioner with a dry/leave-in conditioner! After towel-dry, apply a generous amount of it onto the middle to the end of your hair to prevent hair from falling. However dry conditioner won’t stop or heal your hair loss. If it’s getting worst, the problem may be from your diet and your health.

#4. THE OIL STORY

Let’s talk oil! Women around the world have been using different oils as a secret to keep their hair gorgeous. On my list, the best four oils are: Argan oil, Coconut oil, Avocado oil and Olive oil. Each of these has different feature, which may suit different purposes.

Argan oil, the most multifunction. It acts as a perfect sunscreen and heat protection for hair, suitable for going on a sunny vacation. It also reduces frizz, making your hair more manageable. Argan oil also sinks straight into your hair after a minute or two, no grease and smooth finish.

This argan oil treatment is currently in my hair routine which really nourishes my bleached hair!

Coconut oil! Ahh, the hair growth enabler and the thickest moisturizer. If you want to add more volume naturally, then coconut oil is your best friend. It also helps your hair shine and elastic. However, coconut oil tends to be very thick and greasy. It can be your best friend, but a very grumpy one (i.e you should be careful working with it).

Avocado oil and Olive oil are the two repairers. They will fix all damaged hair back to live. These are suitable as hair mask to fully repair your hair. Spread either equally over your hair and put a hair cap on. Sit for 20 minutes and wash off thoroughly. Do this once a week and your hair will be amazing!

Other than these four oils, I also love peppermint oil and tea tree oil. These help your hair grow stronger and faster. Massage either of them onto your scalp after shampooing. Leave it for three to five minutes and finish off with conditioner.

#5. THE HOT STUFF STORY

I mean the blow dryer, the curl tong, the straightener, etc. yes them! They are all f-word bad for your precious hair. Never use them without priming your hair with heat protection, otherwise, all you effort of treating your hair nicely will go down the drain!

I know girls who obsess with blow dry. You get out of the bathroom, don’t even care if your hair is dripping wet and start blow-drying it. No! That is not the way to do thing! What you need is to be calm, towel dry it first and then blow dry. Trust me, it will even save your time because blow drying when your hair is still too wet will take ages and can cause split end and break.

The hot stuff are dangerous friends. Hanging out with them are fun and cool, but you always have to be careful!

In essence, that is the most five concerned stories about hair! There are defo many more, but these are the basics. Hope you really find this article useful in terms of hair care. No day would be a bad hair day if us girls know how to treat our hair fabulously. Really! Life is too short to have boring dull hair.

Good Luck,
